1. Who we are
Ground is operated by Ground AI, Inc. (“Ground,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our websites (such as trygroundai.com), use our dashboard, APIs, SDKs, or related services (collectively, the “Services”).
If you have questions, contact us at ali@trygroundai.com or via our contact page.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Account and profile data — such as name, email address, organization name, and credentials when you register or sign in (including via SSO or OAuth providers where enabled).
- Billing data — payment-related information is processed by our payment providers; we typically receive limited billing metadata (for example, subscription status), not full card numbers.
- Content you connect to Ground — source code, documentation, package metadata, PDFs, URLs, repository identifiers, and similar materials you choose to index or search. This may include data that originated from third parties (for example, a company repository you connect).
- Usage and technical data — such as API requests, IP address, device/browser type, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, diagnostic logs, performance metrics, feature usage, and error reports.
- Communications — messages you send to support or that we send to you about the Services.
- Cookies and similar technologies — as described in your browser or cookie banner where applicable (for example, session cookies for authentication, analytics where consented).
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
- Authenticate users, enforce security, and prevent fraud or abuse;
- Process subscriptions, invoices, and account administration;
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries;
- Analyze usage to improve reliability, performance, and product experience;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms; and
- Send service-related notices and (where permitted) product updates or marketing—you can opt out of marketing as described in those messages.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland)
Where applicable privacy laws require a legal basis, we rely on one or more of: performance of a contract (providing the Services you request), legitimate interests (for example, securing the platform and improving features, balanced against your rights), consent (where required for cookies or marketing), and legal obligation.
5. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contracts (for example, hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, error monitoring, or AI model providers where you enable those features).
- Professional advisors (lawyers, auditors) where necessary.
- Authorities if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or security.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.
We do not sell your personal information as “sale” is defined under US state privacy laws.
6. Retention
We retain information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the Services, and as necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Indexed customer content is retained according to your settings, subscription, and operational requirements (for example, until you delete a source or close your account, subject to backups and technical limitations).
7. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. See our Security page for a high-level overview.
8. International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross-border transfers.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, or to data portability. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. To exercise these rights, contact ali@trygroundai.com. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority where applicable.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Where changes are material, we will provide additional notice as required by law.
